Have you ever tried to change your habits? Do you start off with all the best intentions and feel really motivated, but don’t end up seeing it through?
Motivation requires you to push towards your goals. When we push towards our goals, we eventually tire and the reasons for why we started gets drowned out in the day to day stresses of life.
Commitment is what pulls you to do what you have to do.
Having commitment means that you do not allow excuses to get in your way; it becomes “an obligation that restricts freedom from action”.
If you have tried to change and transform yourself in the past and you haven’t succeeded, I understand that this gives you self doubt, it lowers yourself esteem and you begin to get trapped in a negative thought process. You then tell yourself you do not have the power to change. Our brains are very good at keeping us away from things that have caused us pain in the past. Trying to change and transform yourself can be a painful process if you have tried and you have failed.
But why not try this time not to rely on motivation, instead commit. If you are committed to changing your lifestyle habits, there will be rules and guidelines that you will have to follow. Write down the rules, guidelines and expectations needed for you to reach your goal. From there make a list of the tasks you need to commit to completing on a daily basis.
If you commit to following and completing those tasks, I can 100% guarantee that you will get the results that you want. Whether it is to finally lose the weight you have put on over the years, improve your physical fitness so you are not tired half way through the day or to overcoming challenging and negative thought processes. Then just start!
Starting is always the hardest part but take a moment to think about what your life would be like if you succeed and how you would feel.
